Alabama sliders - delicious, spicy sliders made straight from Alabama pot roast! Make game day great again!

Alabama sliders are here just in time.  College football season has started and Nick Saban is already getting testy with reporters.  All you need now is game day food.  I got you!  Roll Tide!

Even if you’re not an Alabama fan, Roll Tide, you’re gonna be a fan of these sliders.   I used my Alabama pot roast recipe for this to make it super convenient.  Spicy, delicious, and handheld – does it get any better than that?

You can shred that old thing, that Mississippi pot roast, but why would you?  I’m on a mission, let’s put this Alabama pot roast on the map baby!

One thing before we jump into the food, one thing you probably don’t realize unless you live in Alabama, Roll Tide becomes life itself.  It’s not just a phrase.  It’s not just the the tag attached to the University of Alabama team.  Roll tide holds the keys to the truth of life, of everything. 

Actually, I’m not that big of a football fan but I do live in Alabama and it’s a religion, well more like a cult to be honest.  Roll Tide.  But like any animal, I learn to adapt to my the football environment when college football is here.   I simply learn to embrace the craziness around me.  Let me show you what I’m talking about …….. 

It’s not just the Alabama fans themselves.  It’s the fact that they have their own language.  Their  own way of speaking during football season and it goes something like this:

“Roll tide” will be inserted right in the middle of a sentence, as I did earlier in this post.  It takes the place of other filler words like “uh”. 

Roll Tide can be a warrior call.

Roll Tide can be said in the affirmative, like this:   “You ever got your brakes done on that old Chevy?” and the response would be “Roll tide.”

Roll tide is inserted in the song “Sweet Home Alabama”:  For example, when they sing “In Birmingham they love the governor, boo, boo, boo” – Roll Tide Roll is inserted instead of boo boo boo.  And no matter how you feel about the this, fan or not, you will insert it too when you’re in the moment.

It’s also what’s said in praise of the lord, watch:  “Oh thank God, I could have died in that head-on collision!  The doctor said I was 1/2 millimeter from being decapitated! Oh thank God, thank God!” and the response would be, “Roll Tide.”  Not amen, no.  Roll mf’in Tide.

Man sees a hot bird at a bar.  He goes on over and says, “Can I buy you a drink?”, she says….yep, you guessed it, “Roll tide.” 

Or women will say to each other, “Love those jeans on you girl.” Response:  “Roll Tide.”

I’m not kidding.  You get used to it and you learn to hear the slight nuances in the way it’s said so you can determine whether it’s said in alarm, aggression, sheer glee, or bliss.

So now that you understand what happens down in Alabama during football season, ROLL TIDE!! Let’s go out and make the football fans in your life happy with these #jaxxalicious Alabama sliders!

If you don’t have football fans or Alabama is the bane of your college football existence, (I get that, I mean, can they ever lose? Hardly.) make these Alabama sliders anyway.  Big buns, small buns, they are so delicious, especially with sweet pickles on em.

I’m including pressure cooker instructions to make it super quick and easy.  If you want to pop it in your slow cooker or smoke it, head on over to my Alabama pot roast recipe.


Alabama Sliders


  • 3-5 pound chuck roast
  • oil for browning
  • 3/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 jar hot or sweet cherry pepper rings with juice
  • 1 packet McCormick’s zesty spaghetti sauce mix
  • 1 packet au jus mix
  • 1/2 stick butter


  1. Set your pressure cooker to sauté/brown and put a bit of oil in the bottom. When hot, brown your roast on both sides. Remove the roast to a plate. Press cancel.
  2. Add the broth to the pressure cooker and deglaze to get the brown bits up. Add the roast back to the pot, add the butter on top of the roast, add cherry peppers and their juice on top and around the roast, then sprinkle with both seasoning packets.
  3. Cook at high pressure for 45 minutes. Let the pressure come down naturally.   Remove to a plate and shred.  Add peppers and some juice back to the meat.  Slap on buns.  Roll Tide.

  1. Prior to retiring I work for a US company headquartered in Southern Alabama, so I know the craziness. Your slider recipe sounds good, not too sweet as many can be.

  2. Coming over from What’s for Dinner Sunday and had to check out these Alabama Sliders! They look delicious! We just got back from vacationing in Alabama and so far, it’s been my favorite state to vacation in. I think I could move there! The beaches are beautiful, food is delicious, and the people are friendly.
